Ziaul Haq Murder Case: Supreme Court overturns HC's decision

Today, the Supreme Court held that the investigation into the role of Raghuraj Pratap Singh in Ziaul Haq Murder case will continue. A bench comprises of Justice Aniruddha Bose and Justice Bela M Trivedi passed the order on the petition of Ziaul's wife. The Supreme Court overturned the decision of the Allahabad High Court and reinstated the trial court order.

The trial court had rejected the closure report of CBI against Raghuraj Pratap and the assistant and ordered to continue the investigation. Let us tell you that DSP Ziaul Haq was murdered on the night of March 2, 2013 in Kunda of Pratapgarh district. Jiyaul Pradhan had reached Balipur village on the information of ruckus and arson after the murder of Nanhe Yadav. Ziaul Haq, who had arrived with Lav Lashkar, was fatally attacked. Ziaul Haq was also shot.

Case Brief -

DSP died in the attack. The government handed over the investigation of the murder case to CBI. CBI had filed a closure report against four associates including Raghuraj Pratap Singh and Gulshan Yadav. In 2014, the trial court had rejected the closure report of CBI. Allahabad High Court stayed the order of the trial court. The order of Allahabad High Court was challenged in the Supreme Court by Ziaul Haq's wife Parveen Azad. Hearing the petition, the apex court reinstated the trial court's decision to let the CBI continue the investigation.

Ziaul Haq's wife Parveen Azad had filed a murder case. Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya, then Nagar Panchayat President Gulshan Yadav, MLA representative Hariom Srivastava, driver Sanjay Singh alias Guddu and Rohit Singh were named in the case registered.
