Varanasi Court Directs Surrender of 'Vyas ji ka tehkhana' Basement Keys in Gyanvapi Complex to District Magistrate

The district court has issued a directive for the transfer of "Vyas ji ka tehkhana," the basement within the Gyanvapi complex in this area. The court has mandated the surrender of the keys to the district magistrate.

In his Wednesday order, District Judge AK Vishwesh emphasized the necessity of ensuring adequate maintenance for the basement of Vyas ji situated at the southern end of the Gyanvapi complex, as conveyed by the counsel representing the Hindu side, Madan Mohan Yadav.

Hence, the court has designated the district magistrate of Varanasi as the receiver for the basement of Vyas ji.

Yadav had previously asserted that in 1993, authorities had barricaded and secured the basement.

The plea contended that the basement had been utilized for worship by Somnath Vyas, a priest.
