Attorney General R Venkataramani, and Solicitor General Tushar Mehta will skip Ram Mandir inauguration due to official work since there would be regular court on Monday and on Tuesday there would be 7 judges Constitution Bench hearing a part Heard Aligarh Muslim University Case.
Solicitor General (SG) Tushar Mehta will be absent from the event as he is scheduled to represent the Central government before a seven-judge bench of the Supreme Court on Tuesday, January 23. The seven-judge panel, presided over by Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud and including Justices Sanjiv Khanna, Surya Kant, J B Pardiwala, Dipankar Datta, Manoj Misra, and Satish Chandra Sharma, is set to address issues concerning the minority status of Aligarh Muslim University.
Although SG Mehta is among the select VVIP guests invited to the Ram Mandir event, he informed Bar & Bench that attending the Ayodhya event would hinder his ability to return to the court in time for the scheduled hearing on Tuesday.
Invitation has been sent to all the five judges of the bench which passed the verdict but the CJI, who was part of the bench will not be attending the grand event at Ayodhya.
The only judge from the Ayodhya Verdict bench who would be attending the consecration ceremony is Justice Ashok Bhushan.
