Supreme Court to go partially paperless

It is learned by the Supreme Court Press Note dated 16.12.2022 No. PR/SCI/2022/12/05 with a heading that "Manual filing of advocate appearance slip be a history" that the Supreme Court has taken the initiative to save papers and go paperless in a paperless mode.

The Press release says that on the first working day of the year 2023; AOR may submit an appearance slip through the new portal only.

The initiative was started by the Supreme Court registry during the Covid-19 period but thereafter the system was carried on by the court of Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud but it was not followed by other courts. 

Now with the new system, the Advocate appearance portal has been designed and developed for bringing speedy, accuracy, and efficacy for recording the appearance of the advocates in the record of proceedings.

With the new system, it would be an OTP-based service. It is stated that by this new service, approximately 2,00,000 (Two lac ) papers would be saved.
