In a bid to address the concerns raised by the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud personally undertook an inspection today, examining various areas within the Supreme Court premises that require renovation. The CJI's visit came in response to the demands put forth by the SCBA, which has been advocating for improvements in the cafeteria, Library no. 1, erstwhile Judges Library, Old Chamber Blocks, Dispensary, Setalvad, and Daphtary Chamber Block.
According to Hony. Secretary Rohit Pandey, who spoke to The Law Advice (TLA), the CJI's visit was initiated following the persistent requests made by the SCBA. The secretary stated, "The SCBA had been actively advocating for the enhancement of facilities within the Supreme Court, and the Chief Justice, in response to their demands, decided to personally inspect the areas in question."
During his visit, Chief Justice Chandrachud meticulously assessed the condition of the cafeteria, Library no. 1, erstwhile Judges Library, Old Chamber Blocks, Dispensary, Setalvad, and Daphtary Chamber Block. Impressed by the dedication and efforts of the staff, the CJI promptly instructed the registry to promptly address the issues at hand. Secretary Pandey further informed the TLA that the CJI assured the SCBA to look into the concerns raised by the them and work towards their resolution.
The renovation of these key areas within the Supreme Court holds significant importance, as they directly impact the working environment for the esteemed judges, legal professionals, and support staff.
