SC urges all stakeholders to wear masks

In the wake of rising cases of Covid-19, the Supreme Court of India has issued a circular on 11.04.2023 requesting to all the stakeholders of the Supreme Court to wear face masks and use sanitizer frequently.

The circular reads as under:-

"In view of the reported increase in Covid cases in Delhi the Competent Authority has directed that preventive measures including wearing of masks, frequent use of hand sanitizers and maintaining physical distancing norms be observed in the Supreme Court of India.

Everyone is, therefore, requested to ensure wearing of masks, frequent use of hand sanitizers and maintain physical distancing to prevent the spread of Covid infection."

It is relevant to note that recently the Chief Justice of India has requested all the advocates to prefer virtual mode of hearing.

When the pandemic started in 2020, the Supreme Court was the first institution in the country that started following measures to stop the spread of the virus.

Supreme Court of India started virtual mode of hearing in March, 2020.
