SC seeks response from Andhra Pradesh regarding Chandrababu Naidu's anticipatory bail application

Today , the Supreme Court seeks response from the Andhra Pradesh government concerning the anticipatory bail petition submitted by former Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu in relation to the Fibernet scam case.

A bench consisting of Justices Aniruddha Bose and Bela M. Trivedi has scheduled the case for a hearing on the upcoming Tuesday.

“We are not passing any order, but, Mr. Rohatgi, do not arrest him on Monday before our hearing” Justices Aniruddha Bose and Bela M. Trivedi addressed senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi and advocate Mahfooz A. Nazki, representing the State.

Earlier,  the Andhra Pradesh High Court had dismissed three bail petitions that were filed by the former Chief Minister in three distinct cases brought against him by the Crime Investigation Department (CID) of the State Police. 

Mr. Rohatgi stated that on October 16, he would merely request the trial court to postpone the hearing to the following Wednesday.

The State was served notice and has been granted time until Monday to submit its counter-affidavit in the FiberNet case.

Mr. Naidu is presently in custody in connection with the skill development scam case. The bench is presently reviewing Mr. Rohatgi's arguments in response to a petition filed by Mr. Naidu seeking the dismissal of the FIR registered against him in that case
