The single bench headed by Justice Sachin Datta issued the summons the next hearing took place in September.

“It is contended that the said documentary makes defamatory imputation and caste slur on the reputation of the Country and Judiciary and against the Prime Minister of India. Issue notice to the respondents through all permissible modes,” the single-judge ordered.

The defamation suit has been filed by a Gujarat-based non-profit organisation named Justice on Trial.

Senior Advocate Harish Salve counsel for the organisation said that the documentary has defamed India and the whole system including the judiciary.

Earlier, also Delhi District Court has summoned BBC regarding the same.
