Petition in Delhi HC on 35 Government School Principals' Appointments

A petition has been filed before the Delhi High Court seeking direction to the authorities to investigate the selection of 35 newly appointed headmasters of Delhi government schools on the basis of 'fake documents'. The PIL alleged that 35 candidates managed to stake their claim on the basis of forged documents and were selected illegally.

A bench of Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Sanjeev Narula gave time to the petitioner's counsel and listed the matter for further hearing on October 18.

The petition said that the Education Department of Delhi Government completely failed to verify the necessary documents submitted by these candidates, resulting in their wrongful selection. During the hearing, counsel for petitioner Navendu Charitable Trust sought time to implead those against whom allegations have been made.

Standing counsel Santosh Kumar Tripathi and lawyer Arun Panwar appeared on behalf of the Delhi government. The petition alleged that some of these candidates submitted fake certificates of Economically Weaker Section (EWS) for their selection despite having an annual family income of more than Rs 8 lakh, while others submitted fake certificates of Other Backward Class (OBC) for their selection. ) Availed the benefit of reservation and submitted fake work experience documents.

It was said in the petition that the petitioner was able to trace only these candidates but there could be some other irregularities and illegal selection.

The petition said that due to flawed and wrong selection, many eligible candidates were rejected, resulting in violation of Article 16 of the Constitution. These candidates are on probation period and are drawing salary above Rs 1.75 lakh (monthly). If they are made permanent, the investigation process will become more complicated.

The petition alleged that genuine qualified employees are suffering losses due to the scam. Unemployment is one of the biggest issues in India. This disgusting fraud is taking place amid high unemployment rates. In the petition, a request has been made to direct the Delhi Government to investigate and conduct an investigation into the selection of these candidates before the end of the probation period.
