"Pathetic Condition" of Gaushala in Nagrota: Chief Justice bench, Jammu & Kashmir HC decided to visit Gaushala

Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, along with Justice Puneet Gupta, has ordered a visit to a Gaushala (cow shelter) located in the village of Seri Khurd in Nagrota on June 2, 2023. This visit is being conducted to assess the condition of the Gaushala, following a public interest litigation (PIL) petition filed by a non-profit organization called 'SAVE,' which claimed that the Gaushala was in a deplorable state.

Court has directed several individuals to be present during the visit, including the Commissioner of Jammu Municipal Corporation, the Director of Animal Husbandry, the medical veterinary officers, the president of J&K Gau Raksha Samiti (Cow Protection Committee), and the Advocate General. They are required to be present at the Gaushala at 4:30 PM.

Additionally, the Court has granted one week's time to the respondents to file their response to the report submitted by the petitioner regarding the condition of the Gaushala.

The respondents are represented by Advocate General DC Raina, Senior Additional Advocate General SS Nanda, and Advocate Harshwardhan Gupta.

The petitioner is represented by Senior advocate Sheikh Shakeel Ahmed and advocates Supriya Chauhan and Zulkernain Chowdhary.
