OpIndia editors seeks to quash FIR approaches Madras High Court

Nupur Sharma and Rahul Roushan, the Editor and Chief Executive Officer of OpIndia respectively, have approached the Madras High Court to seek the quashing of an FIR registered against them by the Tamil Nadu Police.

The FIR was lodged following a complaint by a member of the IT wing of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party.

The complaint alleges that OpIndia published a false story claiming that migrant workers from Bihar had been attacked in Tamil Nadu.

The petition by Sharma and Roushan was listed before a vacation bench of Justice Sathi Kumar Sukumara Kurup on May 24.

However, the bench directed that the matter be placed before a regular bench when the court reopens on June 1.
