In a noteworthy move, all benches of the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) across the country will observe a half-day off on January 22, coinciding with the Pran Pratishtha (inauguration) of the Ram Mandir at Ayodhya. The decision comes in alignment with a circular issued by the Ministry of Personnel Public Grievances and Pensions on January 18, which mandates the closure of central government offices until 2:30 PM on that day.
According to an official order issued by NCLT Registrar Naveen Kumar Kashyap on January 19, the administrative offices and registries of all 15 NCLT Benches will commence their operations only from 3 PM onwards on January 22. The judicial proceedings of NCLT benches will follow suit, with sessions scheduled to begin at 3 PM, focusing exclusively on urgent matters until 4:30 PM and on mentioning.
For those NCLT benches already scheduled to operate in the first half of the day, the office order emphasizes the need to re-notify cases listed on January 22 for the subsequent working day. This strategic decision ensures the smooth functioning of the tribunal while accommodating the half-day break in observance of the historic Ram Mandir inauguration.
This move echoes a similar decision made by the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, which also declared a half-day off on January 22. It reflects a collective effort to honor and acknowledge the cultural and religious significance of the Ram Mandir inauguration, a historic event that holds great importance for millions of people across the nation.
