Madhya Pradesh High Court has issued a notification saying that other than High Courts, all the courts in the State of Madhya Pradesh would be called "District Court" instead of "Sub-ordinate Court". The High Court has also issued Resolution that all the Courts would be called Trial Court instead of Subordinate court. In the full court meeting held on Thrusday 15.12.2022, the decision was taken. Chief justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court Justice Ravi Malimath and all other judges have taken this resolution.

MP High Court if the second High Court in the country after Himachal Pradesh to issue this kind of resolution.

Chief Justice of India Dr. DY Chandrachud recently in a function organized by the Supreme Court Bar Association said that "we have to change this mindset that the trial courts are sub-ordinate courts. I do not agree with this."

CJI Chandrachud also said that "When the high Court judges are hainvg lunch or dinner, the trial court judges hold the trey and feed them. we have to change this culture."
