Yesterday, Madras High Court said the elections to select the office bearers of the Madras High Court Advocates Association (MHAA) will be held in June this year when the Court reopens after summer vacation A division bench of Justices R Mahadevan and Mohammed Shaffiq asked the Association members to give their suggestions for the venue to hold such elections and also with regard to new members to be appointed to the Teller Committee by April 28.
The bench said the date of the election will be decided on June 3.
Earlier, in Janurary, the Court directed the MHAA Teller Committee to submit a report detailing what happened on the polling day. It had assured the Association that the elections will be held again, this time amidst adequate security to ensure they are free and fair.
Senior Counsel NGR Prasad, S Prabhakaran and advocates K Sathyabal and several other lawyers appeared for the MHAA members.
