Justice Sanjay Karol has appointed young lawyers as Amici Curiae in transfer petitions

Supreme Court judge Justice Sanjay Karol recently appointed a bevy of young lawyers as Amici Curiae in transfer petitions.

Justice Karol said explaining his decision.

"The responsibility to cultivate the future lies on our shoulders and that we should always be conscious of it," he said.

Justice Sanjay Karol made this decision on October 10 while presiding over approximately 10 cases, primarily involving transfer petitions and bail applications.

In numerous transfer petitions where either the husband or wife could not be represented despite notice being served, Justice Karol directed the appointment of the youngest lawyer present in the courtroom as amicus curiae.

Orders to that effect were passed in six to seven cases.

"I have always felt promoting junior members of the bar and cultivating habits of being busy in themselves," he stated.

Subsequently, the cases were temporarily set aside, and the appointed Amici Curiae were instructed to review the case briefs and get adequately prepared.
