Today, during the proceedings, the Chief Justice of India rebuked an Advocate for making a phone call while inside the courtroom.
Further, he directed that Advocate to hand over the mobile phone to the Court Master.
During a hearing, the bench consisting of Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud, Justice J.B. Pardiwala, and Justice Manoj Misra observed an Advocate using a mobile phone to make a call inside the courtroom.
"Aye... Mr... Yeh Market hai kya? Jo Aap Yahan Baat Kar Rahien Hain?" , CJI said.
The CJI further added, "Judges notice everything that is going on in the Court. Don't think we only concentrate on the file... We concentrate on the file, but..... We are keeping an eye on what is happening in the Court."
Earlier, in March 2023, Chief Justice of India (CJI) made a statement during a public event, advocating for the installation of internet facilities within courtrooms to benefit lawyers. He also recalled a time when mobile phones were prohibited in many courtrooms, contrasting it with the present, where a mobile application for the High Court was being introduced.
The CJI further emphasized the need to establish internet facilities within courtrooms, ensuring the presence of well-maintained firewalls to guarantee that the internet is used for legitimate and authorized purposes.
