On Sunday, the Himachal Pradesh High Court released a notification declaring January 22 as a holiday for both the High Court and the district judiciary in the state. This decision aligns with the inauguration of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. The announcement followed the state government's resolution to observe a holiday on that particular date.
The notification, in response to the State Government's official announcement on January 21, 2024 (Notification No. GAD-A(F)10-9/2022), designates January 22, 2024 (Monday) as a public holiday for the Himachal Pradesh High Court and the District Judiciary in the state. This makes the Himachal Pradesh High Court potentially the first in the country to declare a holiday on January 22.
Notably, various tribunals, including the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC), National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), and the National Green Tribunal (NGT), had previously announced either a half-day or full-day holiday on January 22.
