Mahua Moitra, a former Member of Parliament expelled from the Lok Sabha, filed a petition in the Delhi High Court today.
She contested a notice issued by the Directorate of Estates, which instructed her to vacate a government bungalow initially allocated to her. The allocation was revoked subsequent to her expulsion from Parliament.
Justice Girish Kathpalia is set to hear Mahua Moitra's plea challenging the eviction notice in the near future.
She received the eviction notice instructing the Trinamool Congress leader to vacate the bungalow promptly on Tuesday.
Following her expulsion from the Lok Sabha on December 8 of the previous year, Mahua Moitra was initially directed to vacate the residence by January 7, subsequent to the cancellation of the allotment.
Her expulsion from the House on December 8 last year stemmed from being found guilty of "unethical conduct." The charges against Mahua Moitra included the alleged acceptance of gifts and favors from businessman Darshan Hiranandani. These actions were purportedly in exchange for posing questions that targeted Hiranandani's business rival, Gautam Adani.
