Delhi HC seeks response from Private Schools denning admission to Students under EWS Category

Today, the single-headed bench of Justice Anup Jairam Bhambhani of the Delhi High Court seeks response from the Privat Schools not granted admission to a student in KG class under the EWS/DG category despite allotment by Directorate of Education thrice.

“If the answers are not found cogent and sufficient, the court may be compelled to require the personal presence of the Principals before this court,” Justice Anup Jairam Bhambhani said.

In the said matter, a plea moved by the minor’s father against R.D. Rajpal Public School and Paramount International School, both situated in Dwarka, for not granting admission to his son despite a seat having been allotted under the EWS category on three occasions by DoE.

Considering that the last allotment to the child was made in Paramount International School, Justice Bhambhani directed the school in question to reserve one seat for the minor in KG/Pre-Primary class for the academic session 2023-2024.

“This order shall continue during the pendency of the present proceedings, until varied or set-aside,” the court said.

“Considering the somewhat brazen circumstances that the court find in the present case, the Principals of respondents Nos.4 and 5 schools are directed to file counter-affidavits under their own signatures, specifically stating the reason for not granting admission to the petitioner’s ward despite allotment of seat having been made by the DoE,” the court said.'

Case Title -ASHOK KUMAR v. GOVT. OF NCT OF DELHI AND ORS.

The next date of earing is on 24th August.
