Delhi Court grants interim bail to BJP MP and WFI President in sexual harassment case

On Tuesday, a Delhi court granted interim bail till July 20 to Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament (MP) and President of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI), in a sexual harassment case against him.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Harjeet Singh Jaspal of the Rouse Avenue Courts also granted interim bail to Vinod Tomar, the suspended assistant secretary of WFI.

The court will hear the arguments on Sharan's regular bail plea on Thursday.

The Delhi Police's chargesheet, filed on June 15, accuses Sharan of various offences under the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including outraging modesty, making sexually colored remarks, stalking, and criminal intimidation.

Six female wrestlers have leveled allegations of sexual harassment against Sharan, leading to the registration of an FIR.

Despite a minor wrestler later withdrawing her complaint, the investigation is ongoing.
