Cruise Ship Drug Case : Accused Munmun Dhamecha approaches Court seeking discharge

Munmun Dhamecha, one of the accused in the Cruise Ship Drug Case approached a Mumbai court seeking discharge from the said case in which Aryan Khan, was arrested.

In the said matter, Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) seized 13 grams of cocaine, 5 grams of mephedrone MD, 21 grams of charas, 22 Pills of MDMA (Ecstasy) and ₹1,33,000 at the International Cruise Terminal, Green Gate Mumbai.  After the following act, the NCB registered an FIR.

Munmun Dhamecha was arrested on October 3, 2021, and got bail from the Bombay High Court on October 28, 2021.

Advocate Ali Kaashif Khan, counsel for Dhamecha submitted that after searching Dhamecha’s cabin room on the cruise ship, one transparent packet containing a black semi-solid substance was found kept on the desk. In her defence, Dhamecha said that when she boarded the cruise, there was a proper screening and security check conducted, in which no incriminating substance was found in her possession.

She further said that she was the only one from her cabin who had been detained despite nothing being found in her possession.

She added that other people present in the cabin during the alleged recovery were let off.

“That in the case of Khan, who was arrested due to being in the company of co-accused Arbaaz Merchant, from whom a recovery of 0.6 grams of charas was made, Khan was discharged by NCB through their chargesheet,” the plea underscored.
