Centre cleared Justice Dipankar Datta's name for Supreme Court

According to sources, the Central Government has cleared the name of Justice Deepankar Datta to be elevated as Supreme Court Judge. Justice Datta is presently serving as Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court. 

Justice Datta was elevated to the Bench of the High Court at Calcutta as a permanent Judge on June 22, 2006. Later he was elevated as the Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court on April 28, 2020.

Justice Datta could take oath as Judge, Supreme Court of India in the coming week and he will have his tenure till 08.02.2030.
