Recently, the Central government notified the appointment of Additional Advocate General (AAG) Biswadeep Bhattacharjee as a judge of the Meghalaya High Court.
Union Minister of State with Independent Charge of the Law & Justice Ministry, Arjun Ram Meghwal, tweeted the development.
The Supreme Court Collegium in its resolution recommended the appointment of Bhattacharjee.
Bhattacharjee has been holding the post of AAG in Meghalaya since 2018, as also noted in the Supreme Court Collegium's statement.
With the appointment of Bhattacharjee, the Meghalaya High Court will be functioning at its sanctioned strength of four judges.
