Today, the Central government has appointed Justices Ujjal Bhuyan and SV Bhatti as judges of the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court collegium had recommended their elevation last week.
Currently, Justice Bhuyan is the Chief Justice of Telangana High Court and Justice Bhatti is the Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court.
The Supreme Court of India will have strength of 32 judges out of the sanctioned strength of 34 judges.
Justice Bhuyan will have a term till August 2, 2029 and Justice Bhatti till May 6, 2027 in the Apex Court
According to the sources, they may take oath on this coming friday, i.e. 14 July.
