Today, BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, approached Delhi Court. Rouse Avenue Court asked the Delhi Police to submit a status report.
Indian wrestlers protesting at Delhi Jantar Mantar filed a petition in the Rouse Avenue Court, demanding the court to direct the Delhi Police to record the statement of the victims under 164 CrPC.
Apart from this, the wrestlers in their application had also sought direction from the Delhi Police to file a status report of the investigation so far. After hearing on this issue on Wednesday, Rouse Avenue Court has asked the Delhi Police to file a status report in this matter on the petition of women wrestlers. Also, the next hearing of this case will be held on May 12 in Rouse Avenue Court.
Earlier, during the hearing on this issue on May 10, the counsel for the wrestlers said in the court that two FIRs have been registered in this matter so far. One has been registered under POSCO and the other has been registered under other sections. Despite this, the Delhi Police has not taken any action yet. We had filed a petition in the Supreme Court after the Delhi Police did not take action. On the orders of the Supreme Court, the Delhi Police registered an FIR on April 28, but the police have not yet recorded the statement of any victim under section 164. The advocate appearing for the wrestlers alleged that the Delhi Police is delaying the investigation of the matter.
The counsel for women wrestlers told the court that an official of the Sports Ministry said why are you not settling the matter? If you don't do this, you will have problems. On the instructions of the Supreme Court, the police have provided security to the wrestlers. On this, the court said that first keep the copy of the FIR on record, only then we will be able to take any action. In response, the counsel for the wrestlers said that we will submit the copy of the FIR in the court in a short while.
