The Bar Council of India has reached out to the Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, seeking a nationwide court holiday on January 22. The request is in light of the consecration ceremony of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, a momentous occasion that holds cultural and religious significance for millions of Indians.
The Chairman of the Bar Council, Senior Advocate Manan Kumar Mishra, emphasized that declaring a holiday on this date would provide members of the legal fraternity and court staff with the opportunity to participate in or observe the inauguration ceremonies not only in Ayodhya but also in various related events across the country.
Mishra, in a letter to the Chief Justice, expressed the belief that the legal community's active involvement in these celebrations would reflect the sentiments of the people. He suggested that any urgent matters requiring immediate attention could be accommodated through special arrangements or rescheduled for the next working day.
The letter conveyed a plea for the Chief Justice to consider this request with empathy and take appropriate steps to mark the historic occasion. Mishra acknowledged the importance of aligning the legal community's activities with the sentiments of the general public during this momentous event.
Meanwhile, preparations for the Pran Pratistha event in Ayodhya are in full swing. More than 7,000 people, including politicians, saints, and celebrities from across the country, are expected to attend the grand opening. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to be the Chief Guest, and approximately 100 representatives from different countries will participate in the ceremony.
