Today, deceased Gangster Atiq Ahmed's son Umar is to be produced in the CBI Special Court. Umar is currently lodged in Lucknow jail. He can be produced in court through video conferencing. Umar has to be presented in the case of assault, extortion, and forgery by taking Lucknow's businessman to Deoria Jail. In this case, charges were framed against Atiq Ahmed and Umar on 7th April.
Atiq and Umar were charged in serious sections including forgery, extortion, robbery, cheating, and criminal conspiracy. Both were also charged under 364A. 364A has a provision for punishment up to the death penalty.
Lucknow businessman Mohit Jaiswal is accused of being kidnapped in 2018 and beaten up in Deoria Jail. On December 29, 2018, businessman Mohit Jaiswal lodged an FIR. He had told that Atiq, who was lodged in Deoria Jail, had kidnapped him through his henchmen. He was brought to Deoria Jail after being abducted at gunpoint. He was mercilessly beaten up by the mafia Atiq and his son Umar in jail. Now the case in this matter has come on trial. Testimony in the case can begin today in the CBI Special Court.
The main accused in the case, Atiq Ahmed, was shot dead on April 15 outside Colvin Hospital in Prayagraj. Atiq Ahmed along with his brother Ashraf was brought to the hospital around 10 pm for a medical checkup. During this, while he was talking informally with the media, both of them were shot dead by the assailants who came in the disguise of journalists. Ashraf was also killed in the sensational attack. The police had arrested three accused in the attack case.
