Alwar lynching case : 4 sentenced to seven years of imprisonment, acquits 1

The Alwar lynching case refers to the incident that occurred in Rajasthan's Alwar district in 2018, where Rakbar Khan was lynched by a group of people on suspicion of cow smuggling. In this case, a court recently delivered its verdict.

Four individuals, namely Paramjit Singh, Dharmendra Yadav, Naresh Sharma, and Vijay Kumar, were found guilty by the additional district judge court-1.

They were convicted under sections 341 (wrongful restraint) and 304(1) (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). IPC section 304(1) is a subsection of section 302 (murder), where there is knowledge but no intention to kill.

The court sentenced Paramjit Singh, Dharmendra Yadav, Naresh Sharma, and Vijay Kumar to seven years of imprisonment for their involvement in the lynching.

However, the fifth accused, Naval Kishor, was acquitted due to lack of sufficient evidence against him.

The incident took place when Rakbar Khan and his friend Aslam were allegedly attacked by the accused while they were transporting cows purchased from Ladpura village to their village in Haryana through a forested area near Lalawandi village. Aslam managed to escape, but Rakbar Khan succumbed to his injuries at a hospital.
