A City Court in Rajasthan has convicted 7 persons for the murder of one SHO Mukesh Kanoongo and one Constable Ram Prakash while 11 accused were set free.
Amit Kumar, Addl. Sessions Judge, Fatehpur Shekhawati pronounced the judgment yesterday and awarded life imprisonment to Ajay Chaudhary, Jagdip Dhankar, Dinesh alias Lara, Om Prakash alias OP, Rampal, Anuj alias Chota Pandya and Aamir. Two accused are still absconding in the case and 11 were acquitted by the court.
Both the SHO Kanoongo and the constable were posted at Kotwali Police Station of Fatehpur Shekhawati town in Sikar District. they were brutally murdered on 06th October 2018 and the case was taken under the case officers' scheme in which the prosecution produced 121 witnesses and more than 200 documentary and other evidence. The Court has also imposed a penalty of Rs. 75,000/- on each of the convicts.
The High Court intervened in the matter and appointed Mr. Rajesh Vidharthi, the deputy SP, Fatehpur as nodal officer in the case to bring independent witnesses in this case and burnt the midnight oil to get justice for his fellow policemen.
Both SHO Kanoongo and Constable Prakash were killed on 06th October 2010 when they were chasing wanted criminals in a case. After the court's judgement the senior officers took out a march from the Addl. district and sessions court to the Fatehpur Kotwali police station and gave floral tributes to the policemen who were killed.
