Whatever I law down is the practice; do not try to dictate to CJI: CJI Chandrachud to SCBA President Vikas Singh

"As a CJI whatever I lay down is the practice. Do not try to dictate it to the CJI" Chief Justice Chandrachud told the SCBA President Vikas Singh during a mentioning hearing this morning.

Vikas Singh, the present President of the Supreme Court Bar Association mentioned a matter before the bench of CJI for listing of a matter concerning allotment of chambers to SCBA members in the Supreme Court.

CJI Chandrachud began by saying that we will list this matter and said "We will list it, we have a very heavy board."

Vikas Singh said, "Any day this week, Practice of the court is to finish the board."

On this CJI responded by saying whatever he lays down is the practice.

It was for the first time that the Chief Justice of India heard mentioning applications before sitting for the constitution bench.
