Senior Advocate Kishore Datta has been appointed as the Advocate General (AG) for the State of West Bengal. This confirmation of his appointment was officially sanctioned by the governor's office on December 16, 2023.

After Senior Advocate SN Mookherjee resigned from his position as Advocate General (AG) on November 10, 2023, citing personal reasons, Senior Advocate Kishore Datta was appointed as his successor in West Bengal.

He previously served in this role from 2017 to 2021 before resigning from the position himself.

Even though Kishore Datta had been representing the State in the High Court following Mookherjee's resignation, the official approval for his appointment as Advocate General (AG) was granted by the Raj Bhavan on December 16th.
