Recently, former High Court judge of Allahbad stated that he was under “pressure” not to give the ruling and that if they had not done so, there would have been no verdict in the matter for the next 200 years.
He was who part of bench that delivered a key ruling in the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title suit in 2010.
Retired High Court judge, Justice Sudhir Agarwal said -
“After delivering the judgement… I felt blessed….,” he told reporters after an event in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. There was pressure on me to postpone the case’s judgement. There was pressure both inside and outside the house.”
“Family members and relatives used to suggest that we somehow pass the time and not deliver the judgement,” he added
Justice Aggarwal was retired on 20th April, 2020.
“If the judgement in the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid case had not been delivered on September 30, 2010, there would have been no judgement in this matter for the next 200 years,” he said.
Justices S U Khan, Sudhir Agarwal, and D V Sharma sat on the bench.
The Supreme Court ruled in November 2019 that a temple would be built on the disputed land in Ayodhya and ordered the government to give Muslim parties an alternative five-acre plot.
