The Thane Court has granted bail to the TV actor Sheezan Khan. Khan was arrested for allegedly abetting the suicide of his former partner and television action Tunisha Sharma. The bench of Additional Sessions Judge RD Deshpande granted bail on the execution of PR bond of Rs. 1 lakh.
He was arrested by the local police on 25th December 2022. The Court said that the main ground of Khan’s bail was the filing of the charge sheet and completion of the investigation against him. Tunisha Sharma was in a relationship with Sheezan Khan, but when the incident happened they both were separated.
Khan was arrested the next day on charges of abetment and is currently lodged in Thane Central Jail, under judicial custody. Khan has filed a petition in the high court, to quash the case against him. In the plea, said that to ‘enter into a relationship and break-up are normal facets of life, and if two persons in such a relationship terminate, then the mere fact that the other person commits suicide does not justify the offence registered under IPC Section 306 with its consequences of arrest and custody’.
He also has claimed that there was nothing to show ‘he had done any act with a specific intention, of compelling Sharma to die by suicide’.
