The Supreme Court of India has issued an alert to the public regarding a fabricated social media post that falsely attributes a statement to Chief Justice DY Chandrachud.
The fraudulent post employs Chief Justice Chandrachud's image alongside a fictitious quote, encouraging citizens to engage in protests against the government.
In an official statement from the Court's Public Relations Office, it was conveyed that the Supreme Court has detected the dissemination of a spurious social media post, which wrongly incites the public to protest against authorities.
The post employs an unrelated photograph and attributes fabricated words to the Chief Justice of India. The Court categorically labels the post as counterfeit, driven by malicious intent, and aimed at sowing discord.
The statement explicitly clarifies that Chief Justice DY Chandrachud has not issued any such statement nor granted authorization for such content.
The Supreme Court is in the process of taking appropriate legal measures in collaboration with law enforcement agencies to address this deceptive activity.
