Supreme Court lawyer assaulted and robbed in Bengaluru: Two accused booked for robbery with attempted murder

Bengaluru, June 27, 2023 - In a shocking incident, a prominent Supreme Court lawyer, Dasari Govind, was assaulted and robbed on the evening of June 27 in Bengaluru, according to a report by The New Indian Express. The incident took place between 9.15 PM and 9.45 PM when Govind was returning to his apartment from the Jalahalli Metro Station.

As per the report, the 52-year-old advocate managed to apprehend one of the assailants, but the other escaped with his mobile phone and a sum of ₹3,000 in cash. It was revealed that one of the accused snatched Govind's phone initially, and although he initially resisted, a second attacker joined in and both assailants proceeded to assault him.

Fortunately, some passers-by came to Govind's aid, and a patrolling Hoysala vehicle, located nearby, apprehended the accused. The investigating team suspects that the arrested men might be habitual offenders.

The assault on the prominent lawyer has sparked concern among legal professionals and the local community. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the need for enhanced safety measures in the city, especially for individuals returning home late at night.

In response to the incident, a case has been registered against the two accused for the offences of robbery and attempt to cause death or grievous hurt. The police are conducting a thorough investigation to gather evidence and ensure that the culprits are brought to justice.
