Soumya Vishwanathan Murder case | Delhi Court convicts five men

Today, a Delhi Saket Court convicted five people individuals involved in the 2008 murder case of journalist Soumya Vishwanathan.

Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Ravinder Kumar Pandey of Saket Court found Ravi Kapoor, Amit Shukla, Ajay Kumar and Baljeet Malik had committed the murder with the intention to rob Vishwanathan back in 2008.

The Court in its judgement -held that their role was proved beyond reasonable doubt and convicted them under Sections 302 (murder) and 34 (offence committed with common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

They were also held guilty under Section 3(1) (i) of the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA).

On the last hearing, Additional Sessions Judge Ravindra Kumar Pandey had directed all the accused to be physically present in the court during the pronouncement of the verdict.

Soumya Vishwanathan was shot dead in her car at around 3.30 am on September 30, 2008, while returning home from work.
