SC starts 1st café managed by handicapped person

Due to the initiative by the Chief Justice of India, the Supreme Court of India is going to start a Cafe completely managed by handicapped persons.

The Chief Justice of India DY Chandracchud will be inaugurate the Cafe on 10th November 2023 at 9:45. The cafe is situated in the Supreme Court Compound right in front of the Chief Justice Court. The name given to the Cafe is "Mitti Cafe". This is a chain of Cafes run by Mitti- Social Initiative Foundation.

The Secretary, SCBA Sh. Rohit Pandey told the TLA Network that the cafe would be managed by a profit organization committed to the cause of employment and livelihoods for people with special needs. They work towards economic independence and dignity for adults with physical, intellectual and psychiatric disabilities and persons from other vulnerable communities. The organisation's outreach initiatives also help create awareness about inclusion and disability rights.

It is also noteworthy that CJI Chandrachud is the father to two adopted differently-abled girl daughters.
