SC rejected Centre's sealed suggestion on Hindenburg Report, said- Trillions of rupees have sunk and you are saying there is no effect, we will form committee

The Supreme Court on the petitioner of Dr. Jaya Thakur refused to accept the suggestion given in a sealed cover by the Central Government in the case related to the Hindenburg Research Report on Adani Group. Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, Justice PS Narasimha and Justice JB Pardiwala's bench, while hearing the matter, said that instead of the Central Government's report, we ourselves constituted a committee.

The bench said that if the Supreme Court accepts the Central Government's suggestion, it will send a message that it is a government-appointed committee. The Supreme Court said that this is an issue which requires complete transparency and if the government's suggestion is accepted in this situation, it would be like keeping the other side in the dark.

CJI said that we will not accept the suggestion given by the Central Government in a sealed cover, because we want to maintain complete transparency and if we have accepted the suggestion then people will think that it is an appointment committee by the government. The Supreme Court made it clear that if the suggestion is accepted, it will have to be made public to the other party, so that transparency is maintained. In this situation, the court itself will form a committee and appoint its own members.

The Supreme Court has also made it clear that it will not appoint any sitting judge in this committee to probe the entire matter. The Supreme Court also refused to accept the government's argument that the Hindenburg Research Report had absolutely no effect on the market. The court said that you said that it had no effect on the market, but according to the data available, lakhs and crores of rupees were lost to the investors.
