SC Questions CBI's Delay in Arresting Main Accused in Bengal Teacher Recruitment Scam

Recently, Supreme Court raised the question as to why the CBI has not yet arrested the main accused in the Bengal teacher recruitment scam. The Supreme Court asked CBI why only nine out of 17 accused have been arrested on their records? Why are the rest free? Why are influential people not being arrested?

On Friday, In fact, Prasannakumar Rai, an accused in the recruitment corruption case, who is close to former education minister Partha Chatterjee arrested in the scam and is known as a middleman, was granted bail by the Supreme Court. This is the first time that the Supreme Court has granted bail to an accused in this scam. CBI strongly opposed the bail of Prasannakumar.

Centre's Additional Solicitor General Bikramjit Banerjee argued that Prasannakumar acted as a middleman.

''That is impressive. Bail may hamper the investigation.''

After hearing this argument of CBI, the bench of Justice CT Ravikumar and Justice Sanjay Kumar raised the question that why the influential people are not being arrested in this scam?

ED, which is investigating the ration scam in Bengal, has claimed that it has found irregularities in the tender of the Forest Department. ED has started its investigation. He has started collecting information for many detailed project reports (DPRs).

The central agency suspects that in some cases the agency preparing the DPR has participated in the tenders anonymously. Investigators are not ruling out the possibility of nepotism in this case.

Its strings may be connected to the current Forest Minister Jyotipriya Mallik, who is currently in ED custody in the ration scam.
