SC Mandates Internal Complaint Committees in Hospitals and Stadiums to Address Sexual Harassment Cases

On Thursday, the division bench comprising Justices S Ravindra Bhat and Dipankar Datta of Supreme Court Mandates internal complaint committees for Sexual Harassment Reporting in Hospitals, Nursing Homes, and Sports Stadiums.

Supreme Court Suggests Amendment to POSH Rules for Designating Nodal Person in Central Government Department for Coordinated Implementation of Workplace Harassment Act

In the said matter, the Court Ruling on PIL by Initiatives for Inclusive Foundation, Calls for Implementation of Sexual Harassment at Workplace Act, 2013 and POSH Rules in All States and Central Government

The Court's Directive for Enhanced Implementation of the POSH Act:

Every State/UT's Women and Child Development Ministry to Appoint Nodal Person for Coordination Under POSH Act.

Directing all the States/UTs to constitute LCCs in all the districts as per
Section 6 & 7 of the Act;

Directing all the States/UTs to give due publicity to the Acts and Rules in all the Districts – block, talukas, tehsil in rural or tribal area and ward or municipality in the urban area and that awareness activities will be organized to advance the understanding of the provisions of this Ac

Principal Secretaries of States/UTs and the Central Government to Ensure District Officer Appointments Within Four Weeks Under Section 5 of POSH Act. The Bench Orders All States/Union Territories to Submit Consolidated Compliance Report to Central Government Within 8 Weeks

Further, the Court directed Centre to Consolidate State Reports, Address Lapses, and Submit Compliance Affidavit Within 12 Weeks.
