SC Collegium Recommends Justice Harish Tandon as Chief Justice of Orissa HC

The Supreme Court collegium on Thursday proposed the appointment of Calcutta High Court Justice Harish Tandon as the Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court.  

This recommendation follows the retirement of Chief Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh on January 19. Currently, Justice Arindam Sinha is serving as the acting Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court.  

Justice Tandon, who has been a judge of the Calcutta High Court since April 13, 2010, holds the 7th position in the All-India Seniority of High Court Judges and is a senior puisne judge in his parent High Court.  

Before his elevation to the bench, he practiced civil law at the Calcutta High Court.

"He has acquired extensive experience in dispensing justice. He is considered to be a competent judge and possesses a high level of integrity and conduct required of a person holding high judicial office," the Collegium said in its statement published on the website of the top court.
