Kerala HC Grants Bail to 10 Accused in RSS Leader Srinivasan Murder Case

The Kerala High Court on Wednesday granted bail to 10 accused Popular Front of India (PFI) members in the 2022 murder case of RSS leader S K Srinivasan in Palakkad district.

A division bench comprising Justice Raja Vijayaraghavan and Justice P V Balakrishnan allowed the bail pleas of Shefeek, Jafar B, Nassar, Jamsheer H, Abdul Basith, Muhammed Shefeek K, Ashraf K, Jishad B, Ashraf Moulavi, and Sirajudheen.

The accused had approached the High Court after an NIA special court had earlier denied them bail.

The detailed order is awaited.

Last year, the High Court had also granted bail to 17 other accused PFI members in the case.

The case pertains to the murder of Srinivasan, a former RSS district leader and office-bearer, who was fatally attacked at his motorbike shop in Melamuri, Palakkad, on April 16, 2022. The attack was allegedly carried out by a six-member gang, less than 24 hours after PFI leader Subair was reportedly killed by BJP workers in a nearby village.

A total of 51 individuals were named as accused in the case. One of them passed away, while seven remain absconding. Chargesheets against the remaining accused were filed in two phases, in July and December 2022.

In December 2022, the Central government directed the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to take over the probe into the murder.
