Calcutta HC Grants Interim Protection to Arjun Singh in Bombing Case

The Calcutta High Court on Wednesday took up a petition by BJP leader Arjun Singh seeking the quashing of an FIR against him in a case related to a bombing incident. The court verbally directed the police not to take any coercive action against him until the next hearing on Thursday.

Singh's counsel moved the court, requesting protection from arrest and the dismissal of the FIR lodged against the former MP.

The development comes after the Barrackpore Court on Tuesday issued an arrest warrant against Singh in connection with an incident where bombs were hurled near his residence in Bhatpara, North 24 Parganas district, last week.

Justice Sengupta stated that Singh's plea would be heard on Thursday and verbally instructed the police to refrain from any coercive measures against the former BJP MP from the Barrackpore Lok Sabha constituency until then.
