Saryu Express Case | Allahabad High Court held night Court Session

Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court, Justice Pritinkar Diwakar has filed a PIL taking suo motu cognizance of the brutality with a woman constable in the Saryu Express train going to Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh.

The Court has expressed deep displeasure over this matter. The Allahabad High Court has taken a suo moto hearing in this matter on Sunday night during the holiday.

While hearing the case, the special bench sitting at the residence of the Chief Justice summoned the Railways and the UP government.

The Chief Justice of the High Court will once again hear the petition filed in this matter at 12 noon today. At present, during the hearing held last night, a senior officer associated with the investigation has also been asked to appear in the High Court today. Who will give the details of the action taken so far in this matter to the High Court. Along with this, the state government will have to give information about whether the accused have been identified and arrested in this case so far.

During the hearing in the High Court today, orders have been given to the Additional Solicitor General of the Central Government to be present on behalf of the Railways. During the night-time hearing, the High Court had summoned Additional Advocate General of UP Government Manish Goyal, Government Advocate AK Sand, Additional Government Advocate JK Upadhyay and Additional Chief Standing Counsel Priyanka Middha.

At present, the case was heard by the division bench of Allahabad High Court comprising Chief Justice Pritinkar Diwakar and Justice Ashutosh Srivastava. The special bench heard this case at the Chief Justice's residence at around 9:00 pm. High Court lawyer Ram Kumar Kaushik had also given a letter to the Chief Justice in this matter requesting him to accept it as a PIL.

In the said matter female constable was brutally assaulted in a train three days ago. The female constable traveling in the Saryu Express train was found half naked and unconscious, soaked in blood in the train. Due to serious condition, the female constable was referred to KGMU, Lucknow for treatment. The condition of the female constable still remains critical. There is also a suspicion of rape with the female constable who is the victim in the case. The lady constable posted in Sultanpur was on duty in the Sawan fair of Ayodhya.
