Punjab and Haryana HC Grants Interim Bail to Dismissed Cop Linked to Sidhu Moosewala Murder Case Accused's Escape

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has granted interim bail to Pritpal Singh, a dismissed cop. Singh is alleged to have assisted gangster Deepak Tinu in escaping police custody, Tinu being an accused in the Sidhu Moosewala murder case.

Allegedly linked to Lawrence Bishnoi, Deepak Tinu is suspected of aiding in the arrangement of sharpshooters for the Sidhu Moosewala murder case. During his custody under the CIA, it's claimed that Deepak absconded with the assistance of the then CIA Sub-Inspector, Pritpal Singh.

Following the incident, Singh was booked under Sections 222, 224, 225-A, 212, 216, 120-B of the IPC, along with Sections 25, 54, and 59 of the Arms Act in District Mansa back in October 2022. He has remained in custody since the time of his arrest.

The counsel representing him stated that Deepak, the accused, had shared significant confidential information with security agencies. On the day of his escape from the CIA Staff Mansa, he enticed the investigation agency by claiming he would lead them to a substantial cache of weapons utilized by gangsters, along with drugs. The counsel argued that the entire CIA Staff was deceived by his false promise, allowing him to escape from custody. Additionally, it was mentioned that Deepak has since been re-arrested in Delhi and is currently behind bars.

The plea also highlighted that the other co-accused individuals in the case, including Sunil Kumar Lohia, Kuldeep Singh, and others, have been granted bail by the High Court.

The matter is now listed on January 25 for further consideration.

Appearance: S. Kaura, Advocate for the petitioner and Jaiteshwar S. Bhandari, AAG, Punjab.
