Police Files FIR on Disruption During Karnataka HC's Online Proceedings

Karnataka Police Lodges FIR for Online Disruption During Karnataka High Court Proceedings An FIR under Sections 67 and 67 (A) of the Information Technology Act was filed at the Central CEN Crime Police Station following a complaint by the High Court's administration. These sections specifically address the transmission or publication of explicit material in electronic form.

According to the complaint, unidentified individuals disrupted court proceedings on December 4 by displaying obscene images. The complaint also includes details of the IP addresses associated with these users.

High Court Halts Live-Streaming and Video Conferencing Amid Disruption.

Chief Justice PB Varale announced the suspension of live-streaming and video conferencing during court proceedings. The decision came shortly before the abrupt halt of the live stream or video-conference feed to the courtroom presided over by the Chief Justice.

The Chief Justice expressed regret over the unfortunate and unprecedented situation, highlighting the Karnataka High Court's previous favorability toward utilizing technology for the public's benefit. However, the current circumstances necessitated this decision, marking it as unprecedented.
