Today, the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi,on the occasion of Independence Day speech, thanked the Supreme Court for ensuring that the judgments are translated into regional languages.
"I thank the Supreme Court of India. The Supreme Court has said the operative part of the judgments will be made available in the language of the party who has come to the Court. The importance of mother tongue is increasing today," the PM said.
During the Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort, Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, who was among the distinguished guests, extended a gesture of gratitude by folding his hands, acknowledging the Prime Minister's acknowledgment of the Court's initiatives.
Recently, Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud unveiled a proposal to employ Artificial Intelligence for translating the judgments of the Supreme Court, originally published in English, into various regional languages. This initiative aims to enhance accessibility and comprehension for a wider audience.
In response to the Supreme Court's initiative, various High Courts throughout the nation have also begun publishing judgments in addition to English, making them accessible in various regional languages.
