A humorous talk took place in the Supreme Court today when advocate Atul Shankar Vinod sought to withdraw a petitioner filed by him, advocate appearing for respondent New India Assurance Co. Ltd suddenly said "MyLord please don't allow him to withdraw the petition".

When the Court asked why, the counsel said I have not received the fee and this order may be passed on the next date since he is appearing and his name is not showing in the cause list."

The Court said on that we could not stop a lawyer from withdrawing the petition. We will record your name in the order to make your fee claim. The advocate then said in Hindi "2 Lakh ka net nukasn ho jayega" (I will lose Rs. 2 lakh).

The Court permitted the petitioner to withdraw the petition.
