A PIL has been filed in the Rajasthan High Court on Monday challenging the ban on the Rajasthan Student Union elections by the State Government. In the petition, The Student body has demanded that the student union election is the right of the students and they cannot be deprived of this right. The Raj. High Court will soon hear the PIL. Shantanu Pareek has filed this petition in the High Court. Interestingly Meanwhile, the Rajasthan government filed a caveat in High Court.
Furious over ban of Student union elections in Rajasthan University, students are protesting across the state of Rajasthan. A large number of students’ body are protesting at the main gate of Rajasthan University in Jaipur on Monday. The Student leaders are sitting on a hunger strike terming the government’s order as a black ordinance. Some student body workers also reached Rajasthan University to protest. In the afternoon, a large number of students reached the Chamber of the VC of the University and locked it and protested. In fact, students have been sitting on a dharna since Sunday night at Vivekananda Park, located in front of the university gate.
After this, a large number of students gathered on the campus on Monday. During this, all the students of NSUI, ABVP, RLP and Independents were present. All the student leaders, including NSUI, sat on strike for an indefinite period. Eight student leaders sat on an indefinite hunger strike. They said that students’ union elections are the first step in politics. After the ban on the Student union elections, there is resentment in the student organisations. On Monday, students of NSUI and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad jointly raised slogans and demonstrated at Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati University. There was a scuffle between the police and the students. The students submitted a memorandum to the Vice-Chancellor in the name of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Governor Kalraj Mishra
The Rajasthan University campus turned into a police cantonment on Monday as the students protested the ban on the Rajasthan Student Union elections. Around 200 students entered the Vice Chancellor Secretariat. ABVP members were protesting by taking off their shirts against the police entry. Some are registering their protest by lying on the ground.
Recently the Rajasthan Government had banned elections of Student Bodies in all the colleges and universities in Rajasthan.
