In a dramatic turn of events, actor Armaan Kohli has been given an ultimatum by the Bombay High Court. He must either fulfill his agreement to pay Rs50 lakh to his ex-girlfriend, Neeru Randhawa, or risk being imprisoned. The court issued this warning during a hearing in response to Randhawa's plea to recall the 2018 order that quashed the first information report (FIR) against Kohli.
Randhawa's advocate, Kushal Mor, presented the 2018 judgment to the bench, urging them to reconsider. On the other side, Kohli's lawyer, Advocate Taraq Sayyad, argued that the actor's elderly parents depend on him and emphasized an affidavit filed by Kohli's friend supporting this claim. However, the judges insisted that Kohli must make a decision regarding the payment and inform the court by July 18.
The assault case dates back to June 3, 2018, when Kohli allegedly attacked Randhawa during a heated dispute, resulting in severe injuries that required 15 sutures. Initially, Randhawa filed an FIR against the actor at the Santacruz police station. However, the two parties later reached a settlement in the presence of mutual friends. According to the agreement, Kohli was to pay a total of Rs1 crore, with Rs50 lakh as an initial amount to be paid within three days, and the remaining sum covered by two post-dated cheques of Rs25 lakh each provided by Kohli's brother, Rajnish.
Kohli sought relief from the High Court, and the FIR was quashed based on Randhawa's consent. Unfortunately, Randhawa later discovered that the two cheques had bounced due to insufficient funds. Consequently, she filed a fresh petition alleging that the Kohli family had employed "fraud and deceit" to secure the quashing of the FIR, thus urging the court to recall the order.
During the recent hearing, Justice Sambre delivered a firm message to Kohli, stating, "Either he pays, or we recall the order." This statement has left Kohli with a difficult choice to make.
